Jim Carrey, who is embroiled in a case involving the suicide of his girlfriend, has dropped his request that the mother of his late girlfriend pay him $372,000. Notably, he had previously said that his late girlfriend's mother would pay him the amount in the event of the actor winning the case.

Jim Carrey, who is being sued by his late girlfriend Cathriona White's mother for her death, has dropped the request he had made initially in the court. According to People, the 55-year-old actor has abandoned his attempts to make Brigid Sweetman pay him $372,000 if he wins the case. His lawyers have withdrawn the motion with prejudice and it means that it is irreversible; he cannot make a request again. They cited Sweetman's illness and indigence as the reasons for withdrawing their case.

Notably, Jim Carrey is being sued by Brigid Sweetman, mother of his late girlfriend Cathriona White, for causing her suicide. Not only this, Mark Burton, the estranged husband of White, has also initiated legal proceedings against Carrey. Both have alleged that it was Carrey who gave White prescription drugs under a false name and it led to her suicide. In fact, Sweetman has also accused the actor of giving her late daughter three STDs.

Those who do not know, Jim Carrey and Cathriona White were in a relationship for years and they dated on and off. White was a makeup artist and she committed suicide in Sep 2015 by overdosing on depression drugs. It is alleged that Carrey provided her with the drugs despite knowing that she was prone to depression attacks and had also tried taking her own life in the past.

As for Jim Carrey, he has denied the accusations filed by White's mother and husband saying he will fight for his honor. His lawyer has said that they are waiting to hear the ruling of the court on the matter. Once the court gives its order and the complainants file a new complaint, they will start their preparation for the trial that is scheduled to begin in April.
