After the long controversy regarding J.R Smith's contract extension, rumors revealed that NBA superstar LeBron James feels unsatisfied with his teammate's preseason performance after receiving a four-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers worth $57 million.

Smith, while having the 10th highest salary as a shooting guard, seems to fail the expectations on his gameplay as Cleveland reported that he only lasted for 12 minutes with a total of four points, a three-point basket and a free throw.

Taking a long break after his remarkable championship performance last year, Smith appeared to be adjusting to the new system drawn for him to take early shots for the team. Unfortunately, his shots fell short so the Cavaliers missed to earn some points during the preseason match.

According to NBA, James, together with all the players from the team, was eager to have Smith rewarded for his significant role in gaining their recent championship title. He mentioned that the Cavaliers must have a shooting guard like Smith to provide a strong defense, so the deal just needs to get done.

Meanwhile, Inquisitr cited that Tylon Lue, Cleveland Cavaliers' head coach, commented on Smith's conditioning status saying that the shooting guard is quite winded, but he manages to play hard.

Smith also acknowledged his setbacks on the recent preseason game, and he is eager to get into shape with a self-reminder that as long as he keeps making the shots, he will continue playing on the court.

Dan Gilbert, Cleveland Cavaliers owner, remains true to his promise to ensure a championship for the team with no expense spared.

With a high salary and a four-year contract granted, Smith is expected to give his best shot on the next season and claim the championship. Nevertheless, James is glad to have Smith on board.
