Fans of the highly-acclaimed film "Train to Busan" might have something more exciting to look forward to in the coming days, as two of South Korea's biggest stars might become part of the much-talked-about sequel.

Producer Next Entertainment didn't expect the movie to earn a lot of praise and attention. The movie earned USD 99 million worldwide, and its popularity prompted the film management to have a sequel, which they will shoot in 2017.

However, Enstarz reported that Gong Yoo - the original star of the film, will no longer be present in the sequel. That's because his character - hedge fund manager Seok Woo, sacrificed his life to save his daughter Su-an (Kim Su-an). It can be remembered that he became a zombie and fell off the final rescue train towards the end of the first film.

The International Business Times revealed that Song Joong Ki might become the lead cast of the sequel.  Speculations insinuate that he might portray the role of a zombie or a soldier, just like his character in the Korean drama "Descendants of the Sun."

Song Joong Ki is currently filming his current movie "Battleship Island" and he just won the Best Actor award in the recently-concluded Seoul Drama Awards. It is also revealed that the "Boys Over Flowers" star Lee Min-Ho might become part of the cast. If that happens, the sequel will truly involve an all-star cast that will greatly benefit production.

Currently, Min-Ho is shooting his upcoming drama "Legend of the Blue Sea" alongside popular actress Jun Ji Hyun.

Fans can't wait for the official statement of director Yeon Sang Ho regarding the "Train to Busan" sequel. Whether or not the two stars will become part of the movie remains a matter of speculation.
