All the anticipation cropping up about the "Black Moon" 2016 will finally come to an end today. People may look up to the Friday night sky in search of the moon, however, they will have a hard time finding anything in the black sky.

The Black Moon refers to the new moon that appears for the second time in the same month. A new moon appears on the sunny side of the Earth, and for the same reason, remains invisible to people on Earth.

A Black Moon, is thus, the opposite of a "Blue Moon." It occurs when there is a second full moon in the same month. Both these events are rare, but not super rare. The Earth witnessed its last Black Moon in 2014.

As per those who have interpreted a few Christian Bible verses, the Black Moon indicates an apocalypse marking the end of the world. On the other hand, it also marks the coming of the Jesus Christ for the second time, according to The Inquisitr.

The whole connection with the Christian biblical prophecy has set the appearance of Black Moon apart from the rest of the celestial events that take place regularly. A large majority of people fear the coming of "doomsday" when this celestial event is about to take place.

According to different religious doomsayers, there are several verses of the Bible that point to the end of the world. One of such verses is Matthew 24:29.

However, the CNET claims that there won't be any end of the world taking place on Black Moon 2016. Contrary to the popular headlines surfacing on the internet, Black Moon is just another celestial event with an interesting intersection of planetary geometry.

Several Bible prophesies refer to the moon turning completely black or blue, marking an apocalypse. However, these probably do not describe the normal phases of the moon.

Moreover, this Black Moon is not meant for the entire world. The Eastern Hemisphere would witness its share of the Black Moon in the end of October, just around the time of Halloween.
