Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently post photos of the company's massive data center in Luleå, Sweden, giving everyone a preview of what's in store for one of the social media giant's most sophisticated data centers to date. Zuckerberg's Facebook post shows photos of the data center's interiors, with more to be added soon.

According to Quartz, which called the facility as "rather dystopian-looking," Zuckerberg released the photos just to show to people how the Arctic air in Luleå helps in keeping their servers in good working conditions. The report also said that the data center is about the size of six American football fields and 10% more efficient as it uses 40% less power.

"It's a key part of our global infrastructure, and it uses a variety of local natural resources to increase efficiency and save power," Zuckerberg said of the Luleå data center. Some of the photos include a full view of the facility, its equipment, as well as its architectural design.

One look at the photos give out the impression that Zuckerberg's taking his followers on a "sci-fi" environment typically seen in movies. The Observer reported that the data center's main building doesn't have anyone walking inside, as its gigantic size entails them to use scooters to go around.

Some of the photos feature Facebook staff posing seriously with the data center's new equipment, in what seems to represent Zuckerberg's vision for the future as he further develops his largely-successful social media venture. As one of the firm's largest data centers outside US soil, the facility represents the CEO's desire for further expansion.

Nonetheless, the photos could somewhat elicit the impression that Facebook's vision for the future looks serious as the unsmiling staff it features. Amid what many might think of as a villain's hideout, Zuckerberg looks set to take his social media creation to greater heights.
