Designer-in-charge of WWE 2K17's Universe Mode Cristo Kyriazis revealed on Tuesday at WWE2K.com the new developments for the upcoming game, including its new universal mode, new look, and more.

"We wanted the look and feel of our interface for this year's Universe to really emphasize what I think is the most important part of the Universe: the shows. We want players to feel like they're heading into a Raw show when they see the show's Champion and Superstars in the front of the menu. We want the identity of the show to be expressed through more of its unique graphics and presentation," Kyriazis teased.

What these graphics and presentations that Kyriazis referred to for WWE 2K17 include a new universe mode that the creators developed for the game. As per the report of Forbes, WWE 2K17 can allow up to three Universe saves compared to the previous versions wherein players were only allowed to have one active Universe save.

"It's hard to choose just one style to play, so we're making it easier by giving you [the players] three save slots this year! Now you'll have the freedom to bounce back and forth between different Universe styles without losing your work each time," the designer explained.

Moreover, WWE 2K17 will sport a new look. Here's a sneak peek of the new game's interface and design:

The matchmaking system in WWE 2K17, as Kyriazis said, is designed to pick the most important Superstars for the night "with a chance of adding a surprise or two."
Likewise, the game developers made some few changes with the match cards for WWE 2K17. The most notable of which is that the players must have to proceed through the match card in the order it is presented. This is to let the commentaries shine as the game developers "talk about what happened and what's coming next throughout the show."
Another feature is the "R" symbols next to some of the Superstar's names. These signify if a Superstar is in a rivalry. If the symbol appears, the players might experience storylines that unfold between Superstar rivals.

Speaking of storylines, Kyriazis teased the fans to expect a lot of new cutscenes and contents in WWE 2K17 play-through.
"Storylines between rivals will develop constantly in Universe, featuring cutscenes during their matches. Our talented mocap and animation teams have done an amazing job updating the majority of cutscenes, so expect a lot of new content in your play-throughs," Kyriazis stated.
Lastly, the Superstars can be changed around in various ways including their skills, attributes, and personalities. The players can also choose the Superstars' enemies and allies, the championship they are competing for, the attires they compete in, and even the crowd's reactions. Teams can also be customized.
The best thing about this customization option of WWE 2K17 is that it is available right away. Kyriazis explained that if players want to change something, the players do not need to go back to the menu at all. Instead, as he said, "If I'm looking at Superstars and I want to customize something about one of them, I should be able to go into an edit mode straight from there."
What new feature of WWE 2K17 are you most excited about? The game is expected to release on October 11, 2016. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
