The Cleveland Cavaliers is working on improvements and upgrades in its roster this upcoming NBA season.

Just like the Golden State Warriors did when they acquire Kevin Durant from Oklahoma City Thunder last summer, the Cavs are looking to add players of greater caliber to achieve a back-to-back championship. Doing so would require them to trade away a player who had a disappointing game last season. And it looks like fingers are pointing to Iman Shumpert.

The shooting guard averaged measly figures last NBA season: 5.8 points, 1.7 assist and 3.8 rebounds per game. Although he made some great contributions to Cavs' title journey, his performance leaves a lot to be desired.

According to Parent Herald, the Cavs are eyeing Memphis Grizzlies' Vince Carter. Reports say that if the Cavs will push the trade they would prefer to go for Grizzlies' veterans Carter and Brandan Wright, in exchange for Shumpert.

Although Shumpert is Cavs' defensive ace last season, acquiring Carter and Wright would be enough to fill Shumpert's position. Both players are intelligent and proficient veterans that can guarantee their title defense. And with the 26-year old arrested for DUI charge, the Cavs are willing to take the risk and let him go.

As for the Grizzlies, Shumpert's addition will benefit them. He's seen as a suitable successor to Tony Allen for his defensive qualities. His potential entry will address the team's problems in backing up Mike Conley.

However, the Cavs are also looking to deal Shumpert to the Philadelphia 76ers. According to Sportsrageous, the Cavs is also considering to trade Shumpert, Mo Williams and their 2020 first-round pick in exchange for Nerlens Noel.

And if the Cavs are going for a cheaper deal, the deal with the 76ers is more enticing. Noel will give the Cavs a rim protector and a young player for their future. As for the Sixers, the logjam in their frontcourt is beneficial for their future trade options.
