The Tokyo Game Show 2016 is the biggest video game convention in Japan and it is happening right now. This year, many game players, enthusiasts and developers have gathered in one place as the Tokyo Game Show celebrates its 20th anniversary.

The biggest game convention in Japan counts both global and indie brands among its 600 participants, who are offering almost 1,500 game titles in total. Attendees are also expected to be big this year as the organizers are expecting to receive 230,000 gamers as well as cosplay enthusiasts.

The Tokyo Game Show 2016 is expected to display a variety of games from combat and Japanese role-playing games to fantasy games.

But notably absent from this year's game show is Nintendo and Microsoft.

Gamers as well as developers are particularly shocked as everyone expected Nintendo to unveil its highly-anticipated "Nintendo NX" at the game show. This, as Sony and Microsoft revealed that they are currently working to release both the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox Task Scorpio, respectively.

This lead fans to doubt the company's earlier press release announcing that the new "Nintendo NX" will be launched on March 2017.

If Nintendo fans are disappointed, those who love Japanese role-playing games will be delighted to know that highly-anticipated JRPG's are in the Tokyo Game Show floor this year.

Among the most exciting ones are Tales of Berseria (taking a darker direction compared to the last), Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 (not the expected Kingdom Hearts 3 but also not a spin-off), Persona 5 (already released in Japan but will be released globally on February) and of course, Final Fantasy XV (to be launched on November 29).
