Drama series "Descendants of the Sun" has ended more than three months ago. As final episode aired on April 14, fans wondered if there will be a new season of the drama. What will be the next chapter of captain Yoo and Dr. Kang love story?

There are rumors circulating that actor Song Joong-Ki and actress Song Hye-Kyo met the new team of writers for "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2. According to Yibada, they discussed the story of upcoming sequel with the writers.

Love story between Capt. Yoo from South Korean Special Forces and Dr. Kang has become the center of the drama, which set in a fictional country of Urk. Yoo and his unit was sent there for peacekeeping mission, while Dr. Kang was also assigned as a member of medical team in a war-torn country.

But until now, we have not heard any official statement from KBS regarding "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2, which was so successful in both local and international market.

According to TNMS and Nielsen Korea, two Korean rating service provider, the drama scored average 28.4 percent viewership rating in Korea. Its final episode tallied the highest rating with 37.9 percent on TNMS rating and 40.2 percent according to Nielsen Korea.

In the international level, "Descendants of the Sun" has even done more than just popular drama. It also boost Korean economy as reported by Korea Herald.

The demand of Korean product as shown in the drama is increasing internationally. By far, the drama has been exported to 27 countries, including Japan, China, U.S., England, France, Italy, Germany and Russia.

Meanwhile, a new KBS drama "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" has already taken the favorite place of audience. Park Bo-Gum, from the same agency as Song plays the main character. They both are represented by Blossom Entertainment, and Song is really excited to see his partner does well, asSoompi reported.

As for now, we still have to wait for "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 to be officially announced. It is not clear yet, whether the sequel will include captain Yoo and Dr. Kang, or another cast. We just have to wait.
