According to recent reports, Lionsgate Television Group hired new writers to write a screenplay for the upcoming "Saw 8." The last "Saw" came out in 2010 and its next installment has been speculated for the last six years. While the rumors insisted that "Saw 8" is in process, these stories were immediately discredited. But now it seems that the much anticipated sequel is happening for sure.

The first "Saw" was released in 2004 by Lionsgate and this low-budget horror flick became an instant hit, with a cult fan base. As a result, the franchise dished out sequels upon sequels, each as successful as the last one. In fact, "Saw" franchise was responsible for making director James Wan and and actor-writer Leigh Whannell, respectable names in Hollywood.

Having said that, "Saw 8: Legacy" is rumored to start filming on Sept 12 and conclude on Oct 21 in Toronto, according to a production listing on IATSE873, a Vancouver Film Industry union website. Furthermore, the listing also noted that the movie will be produced by Dan Heffner and Oren Kroules, producers of previous "Saw" films.

While the speculated movie has already been set in motion, no cast and crew members have been finalized for the "Saw 8: Legacy." As far as it its release date is concerned, Lionsgate hasn't announced that either. However, rumor has it that the movie is scheduled for October 2017 release. There is a fair chance that the film will be announced at San Diego Comic Con in a couple of weeks.
