Professor Robert Langdon, a fictional character from Dan Brown's famous novels, is an internationally acclaimed symbiologist. This time he pairs with Dr. Sienna Brooks in an attempt to stop a plague of global magnitude in the upcoming movie, "Inferno."

Adapted from Dan Brown's book of the same title, the "Inferno" promo shows an unknown man committing suicide by jumping off a tower. After the tragic incident, the witness summons Prof Langdon to the suicide spot where clues lead him to Dante's inferno depictions in the form of drawings. These drawings look like they have been changed.

As Langdon takes stock of the situation, he further looks into the clues to realize that his next destination will be Florence where Dante Alighieri's death mask is housed. However, the mask is already stolen by someone, before they get there. But when he sees the video footage of himself stealing the mask, he is baffled and has no choice but to flee.

"Dante defined our conception of hell 700 years ago, but these circles have been altered. 'Dante's Inferno' isn't fiction - it's a prophecy," Langdon says, as cited in an article on Variety.

In the movie climax, an insane man tries to exterminate half of the world's population and also kill Langdon. As the professor suffers from amnesia, he takes help from Dr. Sienna Brooks to recover his lost memories, as he struggles to stay alive.

"Inferno" is directed by Ron Howard, while the script is penned by David Koepp, who also wrote the script for "Angels and Demons." The two previous films, "Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons," did a staggering business of $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office.

"Inferno" will hit the theatres in October 14, 2016.
