Marvel's Kevin Feige has confirmed Paul Rudd will be taking on the role of Ant-man in the upcoming Edgar Wright film.

The rumor mills began to heat up in October when reports surfaced Rudd and fellow actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt were up for the part.  In the midst of all the reports, Feige didn't comment on the rumors but confirmed a casting announcement would be made by the end of the year.

"When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star," Feige said in a statment. "We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we'd ever met with about doing the work, we knew we'd found the right guy. We couldn't be more excited for our audiences to see what he's going to do to bring Ant-Man to life."

The film is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2015.  No word as to when production is set to begin on the film, and Marvel isn't dishing out any new details.

"The casting of Rudd represents the actor that Marvel and Wright had long ago identified as its first choice to play Ant-Man, continuing the studio's desire to cast actors that bring several dimensions to its onscreen heroes.  The film's plot is being kept under wraps," Marvel said in a news release.

"Ant-man" follows the story of Henry Pym, a scientist who has the ability to change his size with the technology he created.  Characters Scott Lang and Eric O'Grady have also taken on the role of Ant-man after Pym decided to retire his superhero ways.
