Fans of the Showtime espionage thriller "Homeland" won't see two of the main characters return for Season 4. According to TV Line, producers have decided to remove Dana Brody (Morgan Saylor) and Jessica Brody (Morena Baccarin) from the show.

This news isn't all that surprising especially since both characters didn't have major roles in this season. Baccarin's charcater was absent for the most of the third season- most likely due to her pregnancy in her life - as was Saylor's character. The show has said that both ladies will be offered to make guest appearances on the show but they won't get much screen time at all because their storylines have run dry.

This season of "Homeland" focused less on Nicholas Brody's (Damien Lewis) troubled family and since the character died during the season finale there won't be much use for the other members.

In the Dec. 15 finale fans were surprised - some even threatened to never watch the show again - after Brody was captured and hung to death in a public execution. Carrie Mathison (Clare Danes) was forced to stand on the sidelines as Brody died.

The rest of the episode started several months after the execution. Carrie is pregnant with what's believed to be Brody's baby but is considering giving the baby girl up for adoption. She is also considering taking a job as station chief in Istanbul.

As for Saul (Mandy Patkinkin), he decided to leave Langley to take a job working in a private sector.  Producers revealed to Entertainment Weekly that fans should not write Saul off the show hinting that the CIA does often use contractors so it's highly likely that he will be in the new season.

Specifics surrounding Season 4 have not revealed but there are some rumors that the show could focus on Carrie and her new job in Istanbul or maybe dealing with motherhood, Saul's new career move, Andrew Lockhart taking over the CIA or a potentially new threat that would reunite Carrie and Saul.
