The Dallas Cowboys went from first place in the NFC East division in 2014 to last place last season with a 4-12 record. While injuries were clearly a major factor for Dallas' disappointing season, the Cowboys front office is leaving nothing to chance as it is rebuilding the roster, adding pieces to key positions.

The Cowboys have already landed two impact players in running back Alfred Morris and defensive end Benson Mayowa in free agency this offseason, and could be looking to bolster their secondary prior to the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys are reportedly interested in free agent safety Dashon Goldson, but the Washington Redskins are still open to his return. Goldson is entering his 10th season in the league, and was released by Washington earlier this month, as the team wanted to create more salary cap space. The Redskins are reportedly interest in re-signing Goldson at a lower price, but with multiple teams interested in the talented safety, it's unknown where he will end up.

Reports surfaced that the Cowboys were bringing Goldson in for visit earlier this March, and Dallas could look to add the 6-foot-2, 200-pound safety, as he would be a strong addition to the back-end of their defense. The veteran safety is coming off a career-best season in which he recorded a career-high 110-combined tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception that he returned for a touchdown.

Goldson was clearly a factor in Washington's success in his first season with the Redskins, but contract terms will likely be a deciding factor in where he lands this offseason. Both the Cowboys and the Redskins are looking for upgrades in their secondary this offseason, and whichever team doesn't land Goldson in free agency likely will target a defensive back in the early rounds of 2016 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys have the fourth pick in the draft and if Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey is on the board, it wouldn't be surprise if they chose to go in that direction. Ramsey is a unique prospect due to his versatility, and could fill multiple needs for teams, as he can lineup as a cornerback or safety. It's exactly one month until the 2016 NFL Draft, and expect multiple teams to make moves in the next month as they look to fill needs on their roster, and prepare their big board for the draft.
