Donald Trump and Univision have settled their legal issues. Univision announced on Thursday that they have reached a deal to settle the $500 million lawsuit over the Spanish broadcaster's decision to drop the Miss USA and Miss Universe telecasts after Trump made controversial comments about Mexican immigrants, according to Variety. Details of the settlement have not been disclosed and are said to be confidential.

"I have known Univision's President and CEO, Randy Falco, for more than 20 years and I'm glad we are able to put these differences behind us," Trump said in a statement.

"I have known Donald Trump for many years in both a personal and professional capacity," Falco added. "And we are pleased to settle this matter and move forward."

Last June, when Trump referred to some Mexicans as criminals and "rapists," Univision backed out of the five-year deal they had just signed with the Miss Universe Organization for the U.S.'s Spanish-language rights to the beauty pageants, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Trump, who is now a Republican presidential candidate, ended up filing a complaint in New York demanding $500 million in damages for alleged breach of contract, defamation, and trying to suppress his right to free speech.

"Under the contract, Univision is required to broadcast the [Miss USA] pageant live on television in Spanish," Trump said in a statement at the time. "While Univision claims its decision came solely in response to comments by Mr. Trump during a June 16, 2015 campaign speech announcing his candidacy for President of the United States, the decision was, in reality, a politically motivated attempt to suppress Mr. Trump's freedom of speech under the First Amendment."

NBC eventually ended their business relationship with Trump later that month in the wake of his "recent derogatory statements" towards the immigrants, as HNGN previously reported. Because of this, NBC stopped covering the annual pageants and discontinued Trump's participation in any future seasons of "The Apprentice."
