Leonardo DiCaprio has come under fire for smoking an e-cigarette during the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday, according to TMZ.

The American Lung Association criticized the 41-year-old actor for his vaping display during the awards ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium, E! News reports.

Although it is illegal to use vape pens or electronic cigarettes in public places in Los Angeles such as restaurants and bars, DiCaprio was within the limits of the law, as vaping is not prohibited in "theatrical production sites," which the Shrine Auditorium comes under. However, the health organization called "The Revenant" actor out for puffing away at his e-cigarette and described his behavior as "deeply troubling" due to the apparent second-hand effects it has on the human body.

The organization's website states that "e-cigarettes are entirely unregulated by the US Food and Drug Administration," and that second-hand emissions from the battery-powered vaporizers can also cause cancer, according to studies.

"Spot someone vaping at the #SAGawards Sat. night? Learn more about health risks of #ecigs: Lung.org/ecigs," the association tweeted on Monday.
