Jodi Arias' request to fire her defense attorney was rejected by a Phoenix judge on Wednesday.

According to the Associated Press, Judge Sherry Stephens of Maricopa County Superior Court wrote a short statement saying she'd detailed her justifications for the denial during a private meeting held last Friday.

In her 12-page written request to fire lead attorney Kirk Nurmi, Arias accused him of having an "utter poverty of people skills," along with demonstrating "little to no tolerance for my emotional and psychological shortcomings." Arias also said that she hadn't seen her attorney since May 23, the day a jury couldn't reach a unanimous decision on whether to give her a life sentence in jail or death for the murder of her former lover, Travis Alexander.

Arias also said that her second-in-line attorney Jennifer Wilmott has done most of the work in this case.

Arias previously requested to fire Nurmi in June, which Stephens denied as well.

The 33-year-old convicted murderer is still awaiting her sentencing. If the defense and prosecution agree on a settlement, Arias will be sentenced to either life in prison with the chance of parole after serving 25 years, or natural life in prison, which requires that the prisoner remain incarcerated until death.
