The Los Angeles Clippers have been involved in a lot of trade rumors this season. Most of those rumors came earlier in the year when they were struggling a little bit but since they have turned things around the trade talk has quieted down significantly. There is still a chance that Josh Smith and Lance Stephenson could be dealt at some point but now a new name is being added to the mix of trade candidates and that is C.J. Wilcox, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports.

Wilcox was a four year player in college at the University of Washington where he was a standout player. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard can score the ball and can also really shoot it so head coach Doc Rivers selected him with the 28th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft as what he considered the best player left on the board. At the time that he drafted him Rivers knew Wilcox likely wouldn't get much playing time in the near future because of the depth at shooting guard but couldn't pass up on his talent.

In his two seasons with the Clippers Wilcox has appeared in just 22 games, including only one this season, and has spent most of his time in the D-League. Wilcox is currently playing for the Canton Charge in the D-League but he hasn't been playing his best basketball. Wilcox is scoring 15.6 points per game and making 44 percent of his threes right now but he is only making 38 percent of his attempts from the field in seven games which isn't helping increase his value.

Trading Wilcox would get the Clippers next to nothing in return but it would clear a roster spot for them in case they want to use it on somebody else via a 10-day contract. Wilcox has not proven yet that he can be a successful NBA player but there might be a team out there that is willing to take a shot on trading for him considering they likely wouldn't have to give up anything.

Wilcox is still only 25 years old and he has very good size for an NBA shooting guard so there are plenty of things to like about the former Huskie. At this point Wilcox is probably hoping for a trade too as it doesn't look like he will be getting an opportunity in L.A. anytime soon and he may just need a chance elsewhere to show what he can do so he can stick at the NBA level.
