"Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" gamers were unhappy to find single player content needed an online pass to access, and Ubisoft quickly went into damage control.

The game developers announced on their official blog they would be dropping Uplay Passport needed to access content in the new AC game.

"In Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Edward's Fleet is an innovative online feature that allows a single player to interact with multiple players on consoles or via the game's companion app," Ubisoft said in their statement.  "Every new copy of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag includes the Uplay Passport code needed to unlock this online feature."

"However, we listen to our community and understand that there are concerns over some players' ability to access this feature," Ubisoft added.  "So we have decided to eliminate the cost of the Uplay Passport for Black Flag. This ensures that everyone will be able to use the companion app, Edward's Fleet, online multiplayer and available bonus content at no additional cost."

Effective immediately, gamers can download an Uplay passport for free to receive the additional content.  If you have previously purchased an online pass, you can contact Ubisoft support for more information here.

Additionally, the tech company announces they will no longer be using the Uplay Passport program.  The news means gamers will have full access to online multiplayer and features including exclusive content, bonuses and rewards that comes with the passport.

"Based on that and on the feedback we received from you, we recognized that Passport is no longer the best approach for ensuring that all our customers have the best possible experience with all facets of our games," Ubisoft said.

"Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag" was released on Oct. 29, available in stores now.
