ISIS followers in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province have started a radio station - "Voice of the Caliphate" - for spreading their propaganda in order to attract new recruits.

Haji Ghalib, a senior political functionary in Achin district, said that the radio has been carrying a lot of revolutionary propaganda, according to NBC News. The Sunni jihadist group issued fatwas earlier this week, calling on youths to join its ranks.

"It is clear they have their own radio and I think it is broadcasting on 90FM and doing too much anti-government propaganda. This radio will have a negative impact on us Muslims and the new generation and youth," said local MP Fridon Khan Momand, according to Tolonews.

ISIS fighters have been engaged in fierce battles with the Taliban in Afghanistan. The restive eastern province of Nangarhar has recently witnessed series of clashes between Talibani militants and Daesh supporters. At least a dozen ISIS militants were killed in fresh clashes between the two groups on Tuesday, Pajhwok reported.

General John Campbell, the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, on Tuesday warned that Daesh supporters are trying to establish a base in Jalalabad.

"The foreign fighters from Syria and Iraq have joined Afghans who have declared loyalty to the group in the eastern province of Nangarhar," Campbell said in an interview with the Associated Press on Tuesday.
