Lenovo has come up with a refreshing new design taking into account people's convenience without compromising on the core tablet experience. The company's first multimode Yoga tablet, with inputs from renowned actor Ashton Kutcher, offers extensive battery life and three modes of operation.

Lenovo, the world's largest PC maker, introduced its latest multimode Yoga tablet that offers three different operation modes, which puts user's style of using a tablet on top of its priority list. The PC makers hired Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher to share his inputs on the design, specifications, software, and market the new line of tablets. Lenovo promises the longest battery life on its Yoga tablet, up to 18 hours, compared to Apple's 10 hours on iPad.

The latest entry in the tablet lineup comes in 8-inch and 10.1-inch variants with the first coming in three operation modes, namely Hold mode, Stand mode, and Tilt mode. Users no longer need to compromise on the way they can use a tablet.

"Watching and discovering that people frequently use tablets in three main ways allowed us to break the mold on the current 'sea of sameness' designs, giving them a better way to read, browse, watch and interact with content," Liu Jun, senior vice president and president, Lenovo Business Group,  said in a press release. "As consumers' continue to demand innovative multimode designs we're thrilled to have Ashton Kutcher on board with us to help further develop the immersive and complementary hardware and rich content experience."

Lenovo's addition of three new modes turns a new leaf in the designing of tablets. The Hold mode makes it easier for users to hold the device when reading for long hours. The base of the tablet is fitted with a cylindrical stand that rotates to help users change the modes. The Stand mode places the tablet in a vertical position adjustable from 110 degrees to 135 degrees for suitable viewing. This is best suited for watching movies. Finally, the Tilt mode places the tablet against the desk slightly elevated on the top, making it easier for typing, internet surfing or even playing games.

Besides the new design, the Yoga tablet features 1.2GHz Cortex-A7-derived quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, with variable 16GB or 32GB memory option. A microSD card slot is available for further expansion up to 64GB. The tablet is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear facing camera and a front camera. Both versions of the tablet run on Android 4.2.

The 8-inch and 10.1-inch displays come with a 1280 x 800 screen resolution. The smaller tablet is priced at $249 and the bigger one is $299. Both the tablets are available in Best Buy retail outlets and select retail stores. Consumers can also purchase the devices online.
