New Zealand registered a 122-run victory over the visitors in the first Test played at Dunedin. Now, the Black Caps are looking to continue their winning momentum in the second Test.

"It was essential to get the win because we played some excellent cricket," New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum said while asking his teammates to continue the winning momentum, according to Reuters.

Bowling coach Dmitri Mascarenhas also hinted at the possibility of playing two spinners in the second Test.

"I think we just showed what we are capable of doing, but now it's time to keep that consistency up and move forward. But we haven't seen the wicket yet. From my point of view you pick the best team to get a win in the conditions," he said Wednesday, according to NDTV Sports.

On the other hand, the inexperienced Sri Lankan Test squad has been struggling ever since the retirement of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardhane.

"We've always talked about not having Sangakkara and Mahela in the team. It's history and we've just to move on with it, take responsibility and try and score runs," skipper Angelo Mathews said after the first Test loss, according to Kashmir Monitor.
