Kelly Rowland's father wants a do-over. Christopher Lovett is reaching out to the 32-year-old singer in hopes of rekindling a relationship with her, the Daily Mail reports.

Lovett told Star magazine that he has not seen or heard from Rowland in decades and wants see her "before it's too late."

"So many previous years have passed and I'm getting old," he told the magazine. "I just pray she comes back into my life before it's too late."

Lovett has been absent from Rowland's life for almost 20 years. When the singer was a child her mother, Doris decided to separate from Lovett. According to the Daily Mail, Doris left because of his explosive temper and drinking problem.

"It wasn't physical between me and Kelly's mom, but there were many days and nights when Kelly would be bawling her eyes out, clutching my leg begging me, 'Please daddy stop shouting at mommy,'" he said. "That image of her howling, begging me to stop will haunt me forever."

Lovett said he has been trying to contact Rowland for years, something the "Motivation" singer acknowledged in a 2011 interview with UK Cosmopolitan.

"He reached out to me saying he wanted to see me, but it's unfortunate he did it so publicly. I want him to meet him, and soon, I really do," she said. "I forgave him a long time ago. I haven't seen my dad for almost 20 years. It's nothing I want a pity party for. He left me and my mom, and I was angry. I wanted to be a daddy's girl so bad."

Rowland had said at the time that she was going to see her father that Christmas but the reunion never happened.

Solange Knowles told Wonderwall three years ago that Rowland was more like a sister to her and Beyonce because she moved into their house when she was only 5-years-old. The Destiny's Child member has not said anything about her father's latest public plea for a reunion.
