Google has added images that provide a view of some of the most famous and highest peaks in the world including Mount Everest.

Google has given anyone and everyone the opportunity to experience the view of the top of many famous and highest mountain peaks in the world without having to actually climb them. The Internet giant has added images of these mountain peaks.

Dan Fredinburg, member of the expedition team that Google sent to these mountain peaks and Google adventurer, said that some of the peaks the team climbed have been on Google Maps' bucket list for some time now. These peaks included Everest (Asia), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Aconcagua (South America) and Mount Elbrus (Europe).

"These mountains belong to the group of peaks known as the Seven Summits - the highest mountain on each of the seven continents," Fredinburg said. "While there's nothing quite like standing on the mountain, with Google Maps you can instantly transport yourself to the top of these peaks and enjoy the sights without all of the avalanches, rock slides, crevasses, and dangers from altitude and weather that mountaineers face."

Images captured of the view from the top of the peaks by the team were taken with a lightweight tripod and digital camera with a fisheye lens. These images are now available for view to the public within Google Maps on desktops and mobiles.

Members who undertook the expedition to the peaks have also posted a behind-the-scenes look to allow people to see what happened during the expedition. Some of the team's favorite photos have also been added to the Street View Gallery.
