British rocker group Coldplay is slated to perform the headlining slot at the National Football League's Super Bowl 50 halftime show, the Wall Street Journal reported. The band will perform at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 7, 2016, which marks the first time Coldplay will have performed at a Super Bowl halftime show.

The PepsiCo Inc.-sponsored performance will feature a guest performance by halftime show curator, pop crooner Bruno Mars, according to the Wall Street Journal. Pop diva Beyoncé is also rumored to make an appearance, since she made a guest appearance on Coldplay's upcoming seventh studio album, "A Head Full of Dreams."

If Beyoncé performs, this will mark the Queen Bee's second time playing the Super Bowl halftime show, and a return for Mars as well. Beyoncé performed during Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, and Mars performed the following year during Super Bowl XLVIII.

Mars' 2014 halftime performance pulled in 115 million viewers and is the second most-watched halftime show, as previously reported by HNGN. Katy Perry's 2015 halftime performance pulled in the highest rating with 121 million viewers.

The announcement comes just one month after Coldplay announced the Dec. 4 release of its upcoming album, "A Head Full of Dreams," as previously reported by HNGN. The band gave fans a taste of what to expect from the new record by releasing a retro, disco-infused dance track titled "An Adventure of a Lifetime."
