For the International Day for Elimination of Violence, artist and activist aleXsandro Palombo photoshopped bruises and black eyes onto celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Miley Cyrus, Kristen Stewart, Emma Watson, Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow as a way to bring attention to and help stop domestic violence. While the images are an incredible way to prove that anybody could be a victim of abuse, some of these stars are a little upset that the artist never asked for permission before using their images for such a powerful campaign.

The shocking photos of Kardashian and Jenner are paparazzi photos from last year's Valentino fashion show in Paris and sources have said that neither of the sisters were ever contacted for permission to use their faces for the #StopViolenceAgainstWomen campaign, according to TMZ. While the two back the cause, they do think it's important that people have the right to choose whether or not they want to be involved, and because of this, their attorneys are reaching out to the artist to issue a warning.

When the images were first released via Palombo's Facebook page Nov. 23, it was unclear if the selected women had given permission.

"The biggest accomplice of violence is the silence, a silence which every year kills or causes permanent disability more than diseases or accidents," the artist explained on Facebook. "Domestic violence is a social cancer that knows no boundaries nor social status, it can affect anyone, whether you're an ordinary person or a celebrity. To defeat him you need to use the antidote or culture by educating and raising awareness on Respect and Equality. Each of us has to do their part to help increase awareness and to chance things by any means."

None of the women featured have publicly spoken out about the campaign and Palombo has not yet commented on whether or not he was granted permission to use these images.
