Chicago's Shedd Aquarium has added a sixth four-legged land critter to the aquarium. Meet Peach, a 20-lb, 10-month-old dachshund-terrier blend, the newest pup to join Shedd's shelter dog rehabilitation program, according to Chicago's local CBS affiliate. Fresh from Chicago's Anti-Cruelty Society, where Shedd selected her, Peach was found scarred and tied to a dumpster in South Chicago, then to the shelter, and then to the Anti-Cruelty Society before finally landing the sweet gig at Shedd Aquarium.

Peach joins Dory, Marlin and Kobe (all named after "Finding Nemo" characters) at the aquarium. The program was given birth in 2013, and two of the graduates before them have since found wonderful homes in the community.

Peach is doing wonderfully, despite her obvious tough start in life, evident by the large scars down the 10-month-old pup's back. She loves playing with toys, and interacting with people, too, according to The Chicago Tribune. Training occurs daily, and like all of the other dogs before her, Peach is learning through positive reinforcement, including clicker training. You can see her shine in this wonderful video showing her progress.

Shedd rescues Sea Otters, Rock Iguanas, corals and other threatened species, in addition to unwanted dogs, ZooBorns noted. The organization takes pride in showing their guests to the aquarium. These animals are wonderful examples of the great companion animals waiting for the right owners at animal shelters across the country.
