Two students were transported to a local hospital after a shooting occurred at Sparks Middle School in Nevada on Monday morning, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported.

The shooter reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Angela Rambo, a spokeswoman for Renown Regional Hospital, said they received two male patients, both minors, who are both in critical condition.

The Sparks Police Department released a statement on their website warning parents and residents to stay away from the school after initial reports were issued.

"STAY AWAY FROM SPARKS MIDDLE SCHOOL 2275 18TH ST.  WE BELIEVE THE SUSPECT HAS BEEN NEUTRALIZED.  ALL PARENTS GO TO AGNES RISLEY TO RETRIEVE YOUR CHILDREN," the statement read.

Agnes Risley is a nearby elementary school. After arriving at Agnes Risley, students were transported to Sparks High School. Both Sparks Middle School and Agnes Risley have been closed, according to Vickie Campbell of the Washoe County School District.

A press conference was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at the middle school.

At 7:42 a.m., Sparks police spokesman Rocky Triplett confirmed the shooting occurred.

Sparks is located outside of Reno, Nev.
