Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather have taken jabs at each other in the media throughout the year, Fox Sports reported. But now the boxing has come to Rousey's defense after the former MMA female bantamweight champion's shocking loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Saturday made her the butt of various internet jokes and memes mocking her knockout defeat.

In an interview with boxing and MMA site Fight Hype, Mayweather put aside their verbal feud to sympathize with Rousey after her first-ever loss and defended her against trolls who are leaving rude and mean comments on her social media pages. He also denied having anything to do with friend and rapper 50 Cent's Instagram post that made fun of Rousey.

"That's not true at all," Mayweather told Fight Hype. "I haven't really spoke to anyone about the Ronda Rousey situation, just to set the record straight. I don't have anything against MMA fighters. It's just like boxing; you win some, you lose some. A true champion can take a loss and bounce back."

Rousey and Mayweather have gone back and forth in the media since 2014 after Mayweather was asked about Rousey and responded, "I don't know who he is," Bleacher Report reported.

After winning her 2015 ESPY Award, Rousey responded to Mayweather's comment and took a jab at his domestic violence allegations by saying, "I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once. I'd like to see him pretend to not know who I am now," as previously reported by HNGN.

Despite their feud, Mayweather had kind words for Rousey in the wake of her first defeat. "I don't think it's cool how everyone is trolling her on social media," he told Fight Hype. "I'm pretty sure she's a very, very strong person, but we still have to take into consideration that she has feelings."
