Blackberry Z10 early sales show promise and the company has gained motivation with the positive feedback, according to a CNN IBN news report.

Blackberry Z10 has got a great response through its early sales in more than 20 countries including UK, Canada, Germany, Indonesia, India, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa. It will soon be launched in other countries including the United States of America. The full touch smartphone is the first to run on the Blackberry 10 operating system.

Thorsten Heins, Blackberry Chief Executive Officer, said at the Communitech Tech Leadership Conference that the early sales of the new full touch smartphone has been very encouraging. He further added that to his surprise, "BlackBerry 10 as a platform and product is attracting users that are currently on other platforms."

"We are just five weeks into this. We have just one product out in 21 countries, so it is early indications, but we are encouraged by what we see and hear from our carrier partners," Heins said during the conference held at the Bingemans Conference Centre, Ontario, Canada.

Any details on Z10 sales were not shared by Heins during the conference. But he noted that the Z10 sales exceeded their expectations.

Heins revealed that the Z10 had done unexpectedly well in emerging markets like India where cheaper entry-level devices are typically popular. He said he was surprised to see the overwhelming response the device got in India, considering the Z10 is a high-end device. He added that he was surprised when he got a call from the company's manager in India saying that the whole stock had been sold out in two days when Heins expected it to last for at least five days. The company is now "scrabbling' to send stock back to the country.

BlackBerry was once a pioneer when it came to smartphones but soon lost its hold on the market to Samsung's Galaxy models, Apple's iPhone series and other Android phones.
