The son of Adrian Peterson passed away on Oct. 11 from injuries he sustained during a beating. Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, was arrested in connection with the boy's death for aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault. Patterson was the reported boyfriend of the child's mother.

Following the tragic death of the 2-year-old toddler Hollywood Life has identified the boy's mother as Ann "Ashley" Doohen. Sources reportedly revealed to EveryJoe.com that Doohen was a wonderful mother and showered the little boy "with endless amounts of love."

Doohen posted a picture of her son as a newborn on Facebook early in the morning on Oct. 11. Dozens of family and friends commented on the photo sending Doohen their support, thoughts and prayers as the little boy, who was referred to as "Ty," remained on life support.

Sadly, later that day the toddler passed away at Sioux Falls hospital in South Dakota. The Sioux Falls Police department has not confirmed whether Ann Doohen is actually the mother.

According to TMZ, the boy was in critical condition and on life support since early evening on Oct. 10 and the family made the heartbreaking decision to take him off life support on Oct. 11.

"The mother of the child has decided to donate the child's organs to people in need," a source told TMZ.

The Sioux Falls Police Department released an official statement saying:

"Emergency responders responded to a call at about 5:45 PM on Wednesday [Oct. 9]. The initial call was made for medical attention, the caller said that a 2-year-old was chocking. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the child unresponsive. Medical staff found that the injuries were not consistent with chocking, but rather with head injuries, consistent with abuse."

Peterson reportedly met his son for the first time in the hospital, TMZ reports. Multiple sources told the celebrity website that when the mother approached Peterson "he didn't question the possibility he was the dad - but rather asked how he could help the situation."

A few weeks ago, the Minnesota Vikings running back started to plan a trip to South Dakota to meet the child for the first time but when he received news that the little boy was rushed to the hospital he dropped everything and jetted over to Sioux Falls.
