Just two short weeks ago, Valve revealed the controller for its upcoming foray into the world of gaming consoles the Steam Machine. The announcement came as the third in a trio of updates from the company including the SteamOS operating system and the Steam Machines.

Now the company is finally showing fans and those who are excited about the controller exactly how it works. Obviously it is significantly different form the likes of the DualShock 4 or Xbox One controller in that this is heavily based on touch screen controls and has a completely different makeup than either of those more mainstream brands. However, this is a good thing as Valve will be adapting most of its controls from PC gamers, a shift which has often proved difficult for consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the past.

A new video has been released by the company, featured below, that shows just how the Steam Controller deals with a variety of different games and how it will adapt to the controls of a full keyboard and mouse. In the video, one of the controller's creators uses the device to play first-person shooter and puzzle game "Portal 2."

Following that, he takes on the turn-based strategy game "Civilizatoin V." From there he moves back to the world of first person shooters with one of Valve's most popular titles "Counter Strike: Global Offensive." Finally the demo caps off with the point-and-click adventure game "Papers, Please."

According to VentureBeat, the Steam Controller is fully configurable and allows players to adjust the trackpads independently. This means one side can act as the mouse and the other can fill in for a keyboards WASD keys.

Have a look at the demo video below and tell us what you think. Can the Steam Controller replace the keyboard and mouse? Are you excited to be able to play some of these indie titles from the comfort of your living room in a more social setting? Comment and share yor thoughts with us below the video.
