After a short five months together, Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas have split. The two had been friends for years, and they hope it can stay that way.

"Joe and Gigi's relationship recently ended," a source told People. "Nothing serious happened...it wasn't a dramatic break up. It was just hard to make it work with their schedules. They will definitely remain friends."

With Jonas' band DNCE really taking off, and Hadid, 20, now one of the hottest models in the world, it makes sense that their schedules would make it hard for them to see each other.

They were first spotted together back in May shortly after Hadid and singer Cody Simpson had broke up, according to Us Weekly. At the time, Jonas, 26, was dating Blanda Eggenschwiler, but they then split in August. They made their red carpet debut as a couple early last month at the Global Lyme Alliance Inaugural Gala to support Hadid's mom Yolanda Foster.

Their relationship goes back much further than May, though. In 2010, Jonas asked Gigi out. "We met at the Grammys when I was 13 years old," Hadid said during a Periscope Q&A in September, according to E! News. "And he asked me to a baseball game and I said, 'No.' I was so nervous; I literally didn't even know what it meant to hang out with a boy. And also, Grammys are on a Sunday, and I didn't want to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, 'No, maybe next time.'" He ended up writing his number on a piece of paper and gave it to Foster. "We've been friends ever since," Hadid said at the time. "Except now, we're more than friends obvi."

The two have not been shy about their relationship and have even posted several photos of each other to social media. Hadid even recently co-directed DNCE's "Cake By The Ocean" music video, and just the other day, when she found out she'd be walking in the 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Jonas tweeted that he was so happy for her.
