Lucas Mancoon-Unger proposed to his fiancée Carlee Alisan Leifkes with an engagement ring made from one of his wisdom teeth, according to Cosmopolitan.

When Leifkes and Mancoon-Unger discussed diamonds for engagement rings, Leifkes decided she didn't want diamonds.

"Diamonds are so overrated," she said. "I don't need one to prove how much someone loves me."

While diamonds may be a girl's best friend, Leifkes was clear that Mancoon-Unger was her true best friend, and she didn't need a diamond ring to prove that.

"So incredibly excited to marry my best friend, the man who knows that his wisdom tooth means more to me than a diamond," she posted on Facebook. "We have never been the 'traditional couple,' why the heck start now?" Buzzfeed reported.

The California couple take pride in being a nontraditional couple. The pair met at a Canadian music festival earlier this year, Buzzfeed noted. Mancoon-Unger asked his dad to mail his childhood wisdom tooth to him, and he took it to a jeweler to get it set in a band of hearts.

The couple plans to get married in Las Vegas next month in spite of Leifkes' broken leg set in a cast. She said her picture on Facebook of her engagement ring outshines her friends' diamond rings.

“It’s almost a contest of who has the biggest ring and whose fiancé loves them the most, and here I am with the coolest ring I’ve ever seen in my life!,” she said.

"My birthstone is a diamond. I don’t need one to prove how much someone loves me. He’d already moved all the way from Canada to do that," Leifkes added, according to Mashable.

Young couples are going the nontraditional route with engagement rings, Mashable reported. As a result, diamond prices are down 9 percent due to the decrease in engagement ring sales.
