Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for AMC's "The Walking Dead" and "The Walking Dead" comic.

You can't have a show titled "The Walking Dead" without some actual death. So while we are all still debating the uncertain fate of Glenn, we'd like to turn our attention to a less prominent character that may or may not be next in line to get it.

Eric isn't exactly a household name among "Walking Dead" fans, but he's Aaron's boyfriend who is forced to step down as scout (and is replaced by Daryl) following a leg injury. Russ Marquand, who plays Aaron, spoke to TV Insider about season six, and his comments got us thinking that Eric might be in some mortal danger.

"Maggie and Aaron are going to have some really lovely scenes together and they're gonna bond quite a bit this season over some very troubling matters," he said.

Are we grasping at straws here? Perhaps. But why would Maggie and Aaron develop such a strong bond?

Aaron hasn't become a central enough character for him to all of a sudden be suffering from a monumental internal struggle that soaks up a significant amount of air time. Though showrunner Scott M. Gimple has given him some distinctive characteristics, he's served more as a plot function with (albeit one with miles of heart) to this point. Something must happen directly to him - say, losing someone close to him - that pushes his storyline forward in conjunction with Maggie. If Glenn is really dead and if Eric does lose his life, the two may find solace in grieving with one another. That development would make sense.

Also, there's the little matter of Eric dying at the hands of Negan's Survivors in Issue 118 of the comic book. AMC hasn't exactly followed the source material to a T, but it has been used as a general guideline. The show could easily swap the survivors out for the current threat of the Wolves, or Eric could become zombie chow courtesy of the massive approaching Walker horde.

We'll find out either way soon enough.
