In the foothills of Bighorn mountain range in Wyoming, hunting outfitters discovered a massive crack that has grown bigger every day, now reaching the size of seven football fields.

The hunting guides were searching for antelope around the end of September when they saw the huge tear on the ground, which is at least 100 feet deep in some areas.

"There it was, this huge slide or crack or whatever it is. I don't really think anyone knows what happened out there, all of a sudden it was just there. I think the reason it's so fascinating is it's so big. And it doesn't make any sense, where it happened it's just like the ground opened up, and the size of it is just huge," said Sy Gilliland, owner of SNS Outfitter & Guides, according to The Washington Post reports.

SNS Outfitter & Guides is the hunting organization that posted pictures of "the crack" on Facebook, and people began posting reactions and questions about the gaping hole, USA Today reports.

The organization decided to call an expert engineer to explain the phenomenon.

The expert that the organization consulted says that the massive crack was caused by a wet spring that "lubricated" the rocks, while small springs on both sides of the bottom of the mountain to slid out, according to New York Daily News.
