NASA confirmed that another giant asteroid is going to pass by Earth on Oct. 31, within a considerable proximity of 1.3 lunar distance, or 310,000 miles.

This is expected to be the biggest asteroid to approach earth at such a close distance until 2027, according to Huffington Post UK.

The asteroid, named 2015 TB145, was only detected by NASA on Oct. 10, around the time when another near-Earth asteroid encounter was also happening, as reported in a previous HNGN article.

2015 TB145 was discovered by NASA's Panoramic Survey Telescope & Rapid Response System (Pan-STARRS I). The telescope's main job is to spot and track asteroids and comets "that might pose a danger to our planet," according to CNET on Yahoo! News.

This new asteroid is on an "extremely eccentric and high inclination" orbit, which means it was fairly difficult to track down, according to NASA.

The "eccentric" quality of the asteroid also means that it is difficult to predict where it will head next, but the space agency stands firm that the flyby is only a "near-Earth" encounter and that there will be no asteroid-Earth collision on Halloween, The Inquistr reports.

2015 TB145 is about 1,542 feet in diameter and interested individuals and amateur astronomers will get the chance to see the asteroid if they have a decent telescope with at least an eight-inch diameter, on the night of Oct. 30, and before dawn on Oct. 31, according to Fox News.
