The body of Rebecca Cade, a woman from Ohio, was discovered Tuesday dangling from a chain-link fence, which onlookers thought was a Halloween costume, authorities revealed.

Officers from the Chillicothe Police Department said that Cade, 31, was severely beaten and attempted to flee, but got her sleeve tangled in the barbed wires on top of the fence as she was climbing it, according to People.

Cade, who had previous run-ins with the law, died of blunt force trauma to the face, head and neck. Her body had been mistaken for a dummy when a construction worker discovered the body Tuesday morning.

Police authorities discovered a bloodied rock that is "the size of an orange or grapefruit" close by, which was presumed to be the murder weapon used to kill Cade, according to the New York Daily News.

Authorities also denied that while she sustained major injuries and her face was unrecognizable when it was discovered, Cade's body was not mutilated.

Donnie Cochenour, the prime suspect in the case, was arrested on the same day and charged for Cade's murder. Chillicothe Law Director Sherri Rutherford said that his clothes were bloodied when police arrested him.

Cochenour also admitted that he and Cade got involved in a physical confrontation where her body was discovered. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and brought to jail with a $2 million bond, The Chillicothe Gazette reported.
