The Philadelphia 76ers were concerned about their point guard position all offseason and they addressed it by bringing in a number of different players at the position. Even with the numbers they have at point guard there is still concern because their top two point guards are recovering from injuries. Timetables for Tony Wroten and Kendall Marshall are unknown but it seems as though they are at the very least a month away, according to Derek Bodner of Philly Magazine.

Wroten suffered a partially torn ACL last year and underwent surgery for the injury. Wroten hurt the knee back in January so it has only been a little less than 10 months since the injury. Having him back in about a month would be nice for the 76ers as he was their best point guard a year ago but ACL injuries require a long recovery. In 30 games last season Wroten averaged 16.9 points and 5.2 assists per game.

Marshall was signed this offseason by the 76ers to give them another solid option at the point guard position but he too suffered a season ending ACL injury last year. Marshall's injury also happened in January so he and Wroten are on similar timelines and might return at the same time to give Philadelphia a huge boost. Marshall averages 9.5 assists per 36 minutes in his career and his passing ability will be a huge help for the Sixers.

While Wroten and Marshall are out though the starting job will likely be Isaiah Canaan's with Pierre Jackson as his backup. Canaan has been in the league for two years but he hasn't been very effective and is probably better suited as a backup or a third string point guard. Canaan has played well though this preseason and the Sixers are hoping he can help them stay afloat until their top two guys get back.

Jackson on the other hand has never played a minute in the NBA and he too is coming off a season ending injury last year. Jackson tore his Achilles a year ago but he has been playing this preseason and should be full go when the regular season starts. It is unknown what Jackson will be able to provide for the 76ers but they basically have no other choice but to give him backup point guard minutes. The Sixers also have T.J. McConnell and Scottie Wilbekin as point guards on their roster but both players are on non-guaranteed contracts and unlikely to make the team.
