Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, fired off a mouthful of criticisms against Apple during his tour in Berlin, where he challenged Germany's automakers with the Tesla e-vehicle.

"They have hired people we've fired. We always jokingly call Apple the 'Tesla Graveyard'. If you don't make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I'm not kidding," Musk said in an interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt.

His disdain was even more apparent when asked about Apple's plan to build an electric car in the so-called Project Titan initiative.

"Did you ever take a look at the Apple Watch?," Musk was quoted in a CNBC report. "No, seriously: It's good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction. But cars are very complex compared to phones or smartwatches. You can't just go to a supplier like Foxconn and say: Build me a car."

Musk admitted that an Apple car would be the next logical thing to do for the Tim Cook-led company after declaring his scathing critique. So some could say that Musk is merely sore with the idea that Apple is poised to emerge as Tesla's competitor. This might not be the case.

The tech visionary is known to encourage competition and the advancement of technology. When he announced his plan to build the Hyperloop, for instance, he published all its details, actually encouraging others to use the idea and make it happen, HNGN previously reported.
