Instagram has rolled out its modified iPhone 4.2 app update Wednesday, following the release of the latest iOS version.

The new update puts a greater emphasis on content. The Instagram users looking for a revamped design for the app will not be too excited as the 4.2 update carries the same logo design and slightly tweaked UI, offering both photos and videos a center stage on the app screen.

With the 4.2 update the images appear bigger acquiring a full length screen with a boosted resolution. The buttons on the app screen have been flattened and the menu bar is more toned up to offer  enhanced space for the images although the  Facebook owned company still rigidly follows the white background for the photographs similar to the former version, reports CNet.

"In this update you will find that we've increased the size of photos and videos in your feed so that they expand to the edges of your screen. We're also happy to say that increased size means increased resolution, so photos and videos will be clearer and more vibrant than ever," reveals a recent post on the official Instagram blog.

The grid view for the app looks more compact and tidy. "In grid view, we streamlined things so that your content will also appear larger. We led our redesign with a focus on clarity to keep the feel of Instagram clean, simple and grounded in the photos and videos you discover and share," claims Instagram.

To give it a better iOS 7 touch, Instagram has redesigned the profile pictures in a circular mode rounding off its edges and doing away with the options 'posts' and 'followers' on the profile page.
