Tuesday marked the second-to-last day we’ve seen Ziva David on “NCIS”. Ever since Cote de Pablo decided to leave, fans have been counting down to her unexpected departure from the show, preparing themselves to say goodbye to Special Agent David. According to de Pablo, fans are definitely not the only ones who will be feeling the loss.

"On a September day in New York, I'm looking out my balcony, and I still miss my family," she told TV Guide referring to the “NCIS” cast who is currently filming in Los Angeles. "But they're with me all the time, every day, and that won't change."

De Pablo said her last day shooting was “intimate” and “quiet” and she hugged everyone goodbye without actually saying the words. However, maybe it’s not the last time we’ll see Ziva David?

Discussing her final scene with Michael Weatherly who plays Tony DiNozzo she said, “My first scene ever in the bullpen was with Michael, and my goodbye scene was with Michael. I feel like that was a beautiful way of ending — for now, certainly — a beautiful chapter between these two."

Yup you read right—she said “for now.”

"The greatest thing about this last episode is that Ziva doesn't die," de Pablo continues. "As long as a character doesn't die, the character can always come back. Not that it would actually matter, because we bring back characters from the dead all the time on ‘NCIS’."

The 33-year old actress said her reasons for leaving remain “personal” and she is thankful for all of the fans support.

"I was incredibly moved by the blind support people had without ever getting reasons as to why I left,” she explained. “People trusted that what I was doing was what I needed to do, and that's unconditional love from people who don't even know me. That's been the most beautiful thing out of this process."

As for her next project, de Pablo says it will have to get her as “excited” as playing Ziva did.

Although “NCIS” has experienced loss before (and will likely bounce back from these unforeseen circumstances) de Pablo is the biggest loss the show has ever taken. She was on the show for eight years and was a vital part of the main cast. It will definitely be sad to see her go.

Ziva’s final episode airs Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 8/7c on CBS.
