What started as a strength for the Philadelphia Eagles might have suddenly become something of a trouble spot. At middle linebacker, where the Eagles and head coach Chip Kelly had expended considerable offseason resources on trading for Kiko Alonso, extending both Mychal Kendricks and DeMeco Ryans and drafting Jordan Hicks, the Eagles are now much thinner than they were at the beginning of their game against NFC East rivals the Dallas Cowboys. Alonso and Kendricks both went down with injuries and, according to a report late Monday from Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports, Alonso's season lies squarely in the balance.

Per Garafolo, Alonso's campaign is "in jeopardy" and there's a possibility that he could be "lost for the season." Alonso, added via the LeSean McCoy trade with the Buffalo Bills, had played sparingly through the first two weeks of the 2015 NFL season for Kelly's new-look Eagles. In two games, Aonso had managed just seven tackles, but also pulled off what may last as one of the most amazing interceptions of the current NFL season. The team was easing him back into full-time duty after Alonso missed all of the 2014 season after tearing his ACL. Alonso was still working his way back from the injury when the team traded for him.

Kelly indicated earlier in the day on Monday that he had no update on Alonso's status and that it was difficult to determine the extent of the injury because they weren't sure on what play Alonso hurt himself.

If Alonso is indeed done for the season, this marks an incredibly unfortunate and inauspicious beginning to his Philadelphia tenure.
