The Baltimore Ravens have reportedly signed veteran linebacker Jason Babin to a one-year deal, according to Baltimore Sun reporter Jeff Zrebiec.

The Ravens apparently picked up the veteran pass rusher because outside linebacker Terrell Suggs tore his Achilles tendon in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos 19-13.

This will be Babin's 12th year in the league, and he brings a strong pass rush presence to Baltimore. Babin has 64.5 career sacks and 14 career forced fumbles. Last season with the New York Jets, Babin recorded 25 combined tackles with two sacks.

The Ravens sacked Peyton Manning four times on Sunday but still lost the game. The Ravens defense did a solid job, holding the Broncos offense to 19 points, but the defense will have to continue to play well if they want to get a win. C.J. Mosley recorded two sacks against Manning and the Broncos, and his play will need to continue after the loss of Suggs.

Combining Babin with Mosley can give the Ravens a strong pass rush presence, but if their offense isn't putting points on the board, it will be difficult to get a win. The Ravens are visiting the Oakland Raiders this weekend, and they hope to repeat the performance the Cincinnati Bengals had, winning 33-13.

The Ravens chose Babin over Shaun Phillips, who worked out with the team on Tuesday, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. Babin will look to pressure opposing quarterbacks, and get the ball back to Joe Flacco and the offense. The Broncos dominated the time of possession against the Ravens on Sunday, and the Ravens defense will need to force the Raiders offense off the field if they want to get a win.
