Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who has refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, issued one in February to a transgender man and his pansexual cisgender wife. Davis has recently been in the news for refusing to grant licenses to couples even though she was already ordered by the Supreme Court, according to a previous report by HNGN.

Thirty-year-old Camryn Colen, a transgender man was was still listed as female on his birth certificate, was issued a marriage license without Davis verifying his legal information.

"She saw just a straight couple in love, and she should see everybody like that," Colen said, according to the New York Daily News. "She shouldn't just see straight couples like that."

Camryn Colen was not out publicly regarding his gender preference and he and his wife, 21-year-old Lexie Colen, would not "out" themselves in public because of safety concerns for their daughter who was only six-months-old.

"I was very stealth," he said, according to the Advocate. "Other than family and close friends, I refused to tell anyone."

But upon knowing about the controversial matter of Davis not issuing licenses and disobeying the Kentucky governor's order, Colen thought it was about time to come and speak out. On Tuesday, he and his wife, together with their daughter, were among those who protested outside the Rowan County Courthouse against Davis' actions and told her to do her job.

"We're not doing it for us," Colen said to the crowd from a truck, The Daily Independent reported. "We're married. That's for us. We have a daughter. That's for us. We're doing it for the rest of the community."

Colen had his gender reassignment operation in 2013. After receiving their marriage license, he and his wife married on Feb. 26.
