An extreme storm system ravaged across the Northwest on Saturday, leaving massive power outages, widespread destruction and two people dead in its wake, according to King5.

The two fatalities in Washington were both a result of the strong hurricane force winds enveloping the region. A 10-year-old girl was struck dead by a falling limb while playing outside at a neighbor's house. Neighbors attempted CPR until paramedics arrived, but to no avail. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Also, a father was hit and killed by a limb while driving his 3-year-old daughter home from the store. The daughter was able to survive the tragic encounter. The father's name has not been released.

Along with fatalities, the storm has caused a lot of chaos to the surrounding areas, prompting massive clean up efforts, damage to homes and apartments, traffic delays, canceled outdoor activities and power outages.

Trees were uprooted in the yards of residents, in public parks and campgrounds, and the Seattle Department of Transportation said that there were too many road closures to even list, USA Today reported.

Nearly 500,000 people were without power during the storm's peak, but Canadian crews helped restore power, according to CNN.

Puget Sound Energy still estimates that there are thousands more still without power.
