Michael Fassbender looks the part in the first peek of his character from the upcoming movie adaptation of the widely popular video game franchise, "Assassin's Creed."

Yahoo released the first look of the highly anticipated movie, in which Fassbander plays the role of protagonist Callum Lynch, a character created exclusively for the film, but his story is similar to that of Desmond Miles from the video game.

The movie follows the story of Lynch, who "discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he's poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day," according to Yahoo.

The motion picture will be directed by Justin Kurzel, who worked with Fassbender on the upcoming Shakespeare adaptation "Macbeth." "Assassin's Creed" also stars "Macbeth" actress Marion Cotillard in addition to Michael Kenneth Williams and Ariane Labed, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Filming is expected to begin next week and shooting locations include Malta, London and Spain. The movie is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 21, 2016, as HNGN previously reported.
