Norman Reedus' character Daryl Dixon from "The Walking Dead" has been a sort of cultural phenomenon since the hit show debuted in 2010. There are fan groups whose slogan is, "If Daryl Dies, We Riot." That's some pretty intense devotion for a fictional character.

But perhaps what inspires the most excitement among Daryl die-hards is playing matchmaker. A lot of people thought Daryl and Emily McKinney's Beth had a brewing romance before the latter's death. Now, fans are hoping Daryl gets cozy with another female character on the show.

Melissa McBride's Carol has long been one of Daryl's closest allies and friends in the show. Viewers have always sensed an undercurrent of romantic tension between the two. However, while McBride acknowledges that the two share an "incredible connection and bond," she doesn't necessarily think they are shacking up together in this zombie infested wasteland.

As Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, said via TV Line, "It's tough, dating in the apocalypse."

How right you are.

We'll see if the two ever get together when season 6 of "The Walking Dead" premieres Oct. 11.
