The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the few teams that still have major decisions to make regarding free agents. Tristan Thompson still hasn't signed a deal and J.R. Smith is still a free agent as well with seemingly no progress being made in either negotiation. In the meantime the Cavaliers have reportedly signed Jared Cunningham to a deal, according to Shams Charania of Real GM.

Cunningham is a 6 foot-4 guard that the Cavaliers drafted with their first round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft but Cunningham has bounced around since then. The former Oregon State standout has played in games with four different NBA franchises but has yet to stick with one. Last season Cunningham played in 19 games with the Los Angeles Clippers but was eventually waived and finished out the year in the D-League where he has now played in 66 games over the past three years.

Cunningham played three years at Oregon State before declaring for the NBA Draft and he was outstanding in his junior season averaging 17.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while making 45 percent of his field goal attempts and 34 percent of his threes. Cunningham has a lot of talent which is why he was a first round draft pick he just hasn't gotten an opportunity yet to show what he can do consistently in NBA games.

Cunningham is only the 12th player signed to the Cavaliers roster as of right now but that is before the Cavaliers come to an agreement with Thompson and Smith or another shooting guard. The Cavaliers still have a lot of moves to make with their roster and because of this Cunningham is reportedly unlikely to make the opening day roster according to Nick Borges of ESPN.

Cunningham will at the very least be in training camp with the Cavaliers after signing this one year deal for the minimum and he will have a chance to impress the team that liked him enough to draft him in the first round again. In 40 career NBA games Cunningham has averaged 1.9 points in 4.9 minutes per game.
