Dakota Johnson was spotted with E.L. James and producer Dana Brunetti for the first time since the Labor Day announcement that she would be playing Anastasia Steele in the movie "Fifty Shades of Grey."

James tweeted a picture of the trio to her followers, many of whom are still complaining about the casting decision. According to E! News, Johnson is currently in New York shooting her current movie "Cymbeline." There were rumors that she met up with the author to discuss the role she will playing in the highly anticipated movie.

"The beautiful, talented, funny as feck, Dakota Johnson," James captioned the photo. "Oh and that bloke @danabrunetti."

Recently, both James and Brunetti had to come to the defense of Johnson and Hunnam. Fans wanted more well-known stars to play the couple and even started a petition demanding fan-favorites Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel be recast as Grey and Steele.

"There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks," Brunetti tweeted. "Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc. So if your favorite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."

"To all the supporters, lovers and haters - thank you so much for the passion that you have for this project. You all rock, all of you," James tweeted in response to the backlash.

Charlie Hunnam broke his silence on the role for the first time at the season premiere for the FX show "Sons of Anarchy."

"I met with Sam Taylor-Johnson a couple of times. She'd asked to meet me and we talked at length about the role, the movie and what her intention was," he told US Weekly. "I felt really intrigued and excited about it so I went and read the first book to get a clearer idea who this character was, and I felt even more excited at the prospect of bringing him to life."

He also said that there was "tangible" chemistry between himself and Johnson.
